Are you feeling stressed and anxious? Do you want help to manage difficult feelings and get your life back on track? Have you tried several things already but still feel stuck? I work with people with feelings just like yours, providing support to clarify your values and to find a meaningful way forward.
The therapeutic relationship is different from usual human relationships. It provides a space for intimacy in that you are offered the safety to say what might otherwise remain unsaid but it also provides boundaries for both of us to remain safe in holding these difficult feelings and emotions.
I do not give advice, diagnose or attempt to solve your issues but support you to find your own solutions. Integral to this support is helping you to define problems (if unclear), explore possible solutions, and to support you to develop an action plan. This can then be evaluated and modified as needed. This approach is based on identifying your values and supporting you to committed action in living these values.
I will provide information if this might be useful and appropriate, but only as an offer that you are free to act upon or otherwise. You are the expert in your life and I respect this unconditionally. Sessions may be short or longer term, depending upon your needs; often much can be achieved in up to 6 sessions. In addition, I may also incorporate elements of Coaching within our relationship if this seems appropriate from your viewpoint. Some clients find that this helps them to gain psychological flexibility and 'shifts' which move them forward in life.
I also offer Sand Tray Therapy - not the same as Play Therapy - which can be helpful for adults to connect with creative aspects of their selves and their lives, where words may be insufficient. If you wish to see the various areas that my therapy covers, please click/tap HERE.
We will meet for a first exploratory meeting to find out more about each other, about why you might find counselling helpful, the issues that you want to explore and what you want to achieve. It is an opportunity for us to ask questions and to establish if we feel we are able to work together. I appreciate it is difficult to meet with someone new and talk about personal issues, and I will do my best to help you feel at ease.
The first session will be half the cost of the full sessions. All our meetings are confidential and I abide by the BACP Guidance Code in regard to their Ethical Framework. If you would like to view this it is available on their website.
